The Program in Action

Prior to the first Ultra Lite visit, a new patient must first have a general assessment, which may include baseline labs. When starting Ultra Lite, everything that is needed to properly follow the eating plan will be provided. Most people transition into a fat burning metabolism by day three of the program and continue to check each morning with a simple home test. Office visits are weekly for the first five weeks and then biweekly until goal weight is reached. Every visit includes weight, blood pressure, and body measurements. Participants keep a diet diary which is reviewed at the visit and questions can be addressed.

In addition to regular food, participants consume four tasty New Zealand whey protein packets daily (Diasnacks). These come in a variety of flavors and contain xylitol, which is a natural and healthy non-caloric sweetener. The packets provide an abundance of vitamins, minerals and amino acids and serve to keep blood sugar balanced in-between meals. For those with severe dairy allergy, there is an alternative pea protein packet. A potassium supplement and possibly a multivitamin are used while on the program. People with certain medical conditions may need one or two additional nutrients. Eight glasses of water are consumed daily to aid with detoxification.

Insurance is accepted for Ultra Lite office visits. There are some additional out-of-pocket costs for Ultra Lite, $125 when you start the program and $196 per month after that. Once goal weight is reached, participants are placed on a well-balanced maintenance program with periodic office visits.
